Foodies, mark your calendars! Two of the Triangle's most captivating and celebrated chefs are teaming up for an exclusive, one-night-only dinner in Raleigh next month. Chef Ricky Moore of the James Beard Award-winning Saltbox Seafood Joint is joining forces with Chef Saif Rahman of Peregrine for an incredible culinary collaboration.

The event is part of Chef Rahman's "Ember Series"—a special lineup of pop-up dinners cooked entirely outdoors over a smoldering wood fire. It's a return to the purest, most honest form of cooking, stripping everything down to technique, patience, and a deep respect for the ingredients.

These two culinary heavyweights are no strangers to each other; they actually cooked together over a decade ago at Spice Street in Chapel Hill. Chef Rahman describes Moore as a brother whose "generosity, humility and unwavering belief that food is one of the purest expressions of love have shaped the way I think about cooking."

The area between downtown Raleigh and Dorothea Dix Park—often referred to as the West End—is experiencing a massive transformation. Thanks to its close proximity to the park and the heart of the city, developers are flocking to the neighborhood, bringing thousands of new apartment units with them.

The latest addition to the skyline will be "The Rosewood," a massive seven-story apartment building planned for the corner of South Saunders and West South streets. Developer Blue Heron Asset Management plans to break ground on the project this month, bringing over 260 new units and 5,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space to the area by 2028.

This is just one piece of a much larger puzzle. According to the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, more than 2,000 apartment units have been built, proposed, or are currently under construction in this specific corner of downtown over the past few years. Notable projects include the 20-story Maeve tower, The Weld, and Kane Realty's The Row.

While the rapid development has raised some concerns about rising home prices, city leaders are optimistic. The hope is that this influx of investment will make the West End more walkable, bring in exciting new businesses, and create a vibrant, seamless connection between downtown and Dix Park.
